MENGGALI MAKNA ”KASIH MENUTUPI BANYAK DOSA”: STUDI INTERTEKSTUAL AMSAL 10:12 DAN 1 PETRUS 4:8
Abstract
Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengeksplorasi makna frase kasih menutupi banyak dosa” dari perpspektif Salomo dalam Amsal 10:12 dan Petrus yang kembali mengutip nasihat tersebut untuk menguatkan jemaat dalam 1 Petrus 4:8. Penelitian sebelumnya sering difokuskan kepada menggali makna dari frase ini secara teologis, tetapi mengabaikan apa yang mendasari kedua penulis kitab ini menggunakan frase dimaksud. Berdasarkan metode hermeneutik eksegesis dan analisisi intertekstual maka penelitian ini menemukan bahwa perspektif Salomo dalam Amsal 10:12 menyoroti kontras antara kebencian yang memicu pertikaian dan kasih yang meredakan konflik dengan menutupi pelanggaran. Sementara itu, Petrus dalam 1 Petrus 4:8 menekankan pentingnya kasih dalam komunitas Kristen yang menghadapi penderitaan, dengan menyoroti peran kasih yang aktif sebagai respons terhadap realitas dosa dan kelemahan manusia. Sehingga tiga makna utama yang ditemukan dari frase ini, adalah: Pertama, rekonsiliasi sosial; Kedua, pengampunan aktif; Ketiga, dimensi penebusan-eskatologis. Studi ini juga menyoroti relevansi praktis dari konsep kasih yang menutupi dosa dalam membangun hubungan yang sehat dan komunitas yang saling mendukung di tengah tantangan zaman.
